Advance Practice Nurses

Advanced Practice Nurses are registered nurses that have an advanced education (Master of Science in Nursing) and clinical training in a health care specialty area. NP’s are required to attend an educational facility accredited by the National Organization of Nurse Practitioners Faculties and the American Association of the Colleges of Nursing. Women’s Health Care NPs provide care throughout the lifespan of the female patient from adolescence through menopause. Nurse Practitioners diagnose and treat acute health problems, provide prenatal care and family planning services, perform physical exams, prescribe medications, and order, perform and interpret diagnostic studies such as lab work and ultrasounds.

Karen Katz M.S. C.N.M

Karen received her Masters Degree in Maternal Child Nursing from Rutgers University and her Midwifery Certification from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She is a Clinical Associate Professor at University of Medicine and Dentistry and has taught both Midwifery and Obstetrical Students.

Kim Shapiro MSN NPCo

Kim received her BSN in nursing from Rutgers University, Newark, NJ where she graduated Summa Cum laude. She graduated Magna Cum laude from the Women’s Health Practitioner program at Seton Hall University where she received her Master of Science Degree. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing, The American Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses.
